Getting started

How does SwingDino work?

Set your iPhone on a stand off to the side, in the opposite batter's box, about 8 feet away, looking across the plate. Run the 15-second guided setup, then just hit off the tee. SwingDino watches the live feed and reads each swing the instant you make contact: exit velo, the kind of contact, and how consistent you are. When a swing is too far or too dark to read cleanly, it tells you instead of guessing a number.

Do I need any special gear?

No. Just an iPhone, a tee, and some balls. Any phone stand or tripod that holds it steady and level works, the app does the whole job on its own.

What phone do I need?

A reasonably recent iPhone and good light. The single biggest factor in a clean reading isn't the phone, it's a bright, clear view of the ball.

Accuracy

How accurate is it?

For tee work in good light, our modeling puts your exit velo within a few mph, and it's built to be repeatable so your progress is real. It's a trend tracker, not a radar gun, we explain exactly where it's most and least accurate on the accuracy page.

Why isn't there a distance number?

Because we can't honestly measure it. How far a ball would carry depends on backspin a phone camera can't see, so instead of guessing we show you what we can actually measure, speed, contact, and consistency.

Ages & sports

What ages is it for?

Every hitter, age 4 to 94. Trophies and ranks are earned by effort, sessions, streaks, and beating your own best, never by an absolute mph, so a six-year-old and a varsity slugger both fill the shelf.

Does it work for softball?

Yes, baseball and softball both. It knows the size of the ball you're using and scales to it.

Can I track more than one hitter?

Yes, with SwingDino Plus, one plan covers every hitter in the family, each with their own dino, history, and trophies. The free app tracks one hitter.

Privacy & pricing

Is my kid's data safe?

Yes, it's the whole way we built it. The camera measures the swing and throws the frames away in real time; video is never saved and never uploaded. Only the numbers are kept, on your device. More on the privacy page.

Is it really free?

Yes, free includes a measured session every week, all the games, your baseball card, and your personal record, forever. SwingDino Plus ($25/yr or $2.99/mo) adds unlimited sessions, every hitter in the family, full history & trends, and the coach's read after every session. Plus never changes a measured number.

Does it work indoors or in a cage?

Yes, as long as the light is bright enough. A dim cage smears the ball and widens the estimate, we'll flag a low-confidence session rather than hide it.
